Twins

Scuba Diving Koh Tao, Thailand

"Twin Peaks" or "Twins" as it is commonly known, is one of Koh Tao's most popular dive sites. Located just off the beach on the west of Koh Nang Yuan, some claim the dive site is named "Twins" after the twin peaks of Koh Nang Yuan that dominate the skyline of nearby island.

However others claim its named "Twins" as the site features two nearly identical rock formations sitting next to each other surrounded by soft white sand. It also has a smaller little brother "pinnacle" a little deeper making 3 "peaks" in total.

Sheltered from the elements and offering calm clear conditions for most of the year, Twins has a depth range of 5m - 20m. Twins is an ideal dive site for all scuba divers regardless of certification level and boast plenty to see along the way.

The pinnacles are large boulder collections mixed with tropical reef. You are likely to see Butterfly Fish, Blue ringed and Six banded Angelfish and it’s also a good place to spot Blue spotted stingrays and White eyed Moray eels.

You can also find Nemo! Venture south east off the main pinnacle and you will see a family of saddleback anemone fish – a popular attraction the scuba diving community has created an exclusions zone, several feet wide made of rocks that surrounds them so please respect this when finding Nemo and don’t cross into the zone.

If you are lucky you can spot a small yellow box fish as well as banded sea snakes, and Turtles often hang at Twins. Off the deep pinnacle you will see Chevron Barracuda swimming past off into the deep and when making your safety stop off the main pinnacles you will often be surrounded by hundreds of yellow tail barracuda.
