Koh Nang Yuan

Koh Nang Yuan is a small island located off the North West of Koh Tao. The island attracts day trippers visiting from Koh Tao, Koh Phan Ngan & Koh Samui with its picture postcard-esque beauty, turquoise waters and easily accessible snorkelling sites.

Made up of three small islands Koh Nang Yuan is in a very exclusive club worldwide. During low tide, all ‘three islands’ are joined by its white sandy beaches, allowing you to walk from one to the other.

A perfect place to relax and soak up a few rays in the peace and quiet.

The only way to get to Koh Nang Yuan is by boat. You have two options.

Longtail boats from Koh Tao – These trips typically cost around 300 THB per person for a return journey. There are also a 100 THB charge to go onto the island.

Koh Nang Yuan

Lomprayah Catamaran stops at Koh Nang Yuan, via their service from both Chumphon, on the mainland and their islands service which originates from Koh Samui. It is also possible to visit Koh Nang Yuan as part of an organised snorkelling trip from Koh Samui.

Koh Nang YuanPrices start from 2,500 THB for a day trip. This includes pick up from your hotel, a light breakfast, the boat trip from Koh Samui, Mask, Snorkel and lifejacket and lunch . The snorkelling trip involves visiting several other snorkelling spots around Koh Tao.

Plastic bottles and cans are banned from the island. Buy water and other drinks in glass bottles on Koh Tao to avoid paying inflated prices on Koh Nang Yuan.

There is one resort, and one restaurant on Koh Nang Yuan, both of which, as expected are much more expensive than on Koh Tao. Nang Yuan starts to get busy around 09.30 and empties out by 16.30 so if you want a bit of solitude, and some time to really enjoy its tranquility and beauty get there early or plan to stay late.

Other than the obvious beauty and tranquility Koh Nang Yuan offers above water there are also several dive sites located around the island. Twins is on the south west of the island, Green Rock is situated on the North west side and Japanese Gardens, also a popular snorkeling site is located on the east side of the island.

A little further out from the bay where Japanese Gardens is situated is Red Rock. There is also good snorkeling (and diving opportunities) around the majority of Koh Nang Yuan’s coastline.

There is also a viewpoint – the highest point on any of the three islands which takes around 15 minutes to walk too. It is from here that many of the beautiful images you see are snapped.
