Ever wanted to try something new but were just a little too unsure..?
How will you know whether you will like it or not unless you try it..?
Many people never get to know the feeling of what it is like to breathe underwater as they don’t want to commit to a PADI Open Water course, usually due to time restrictions or cost, although sometimes because of a little apprehension.
Try a Dive & Discover Scuba
PADI have developed an experience program specifically designed for people who may be a little unsure whether they will like scuba or who don’t have either the time, or money to commit to the full 4 day entry level course.
Try a dive and enrol on PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience. Experience the feeling of blowing bubbles!
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) experience program is simply a “try dive”, designed to get people who wouldn’t otherwise sign up for the full Open water course blowing bubbles and breathing underwater for the very first time.
After a short introduction your PADI Instructor will give you a ‘dive today’ briefing. This will consist of the important “Do’s & Dont’s” associated with scuba, plus an outline of what we will ask you to do in the swimming pool.
In the pool we let you become comfortable, just breathing and blowing bubbles as well as showing you how to equalise your ears. We will also ask you to complete a few basic skills such as clearing a regulator and your mask of water.
The program is conducted in very small groups so you are under constant supervision by a PADI instructor at all times. Crystal Dive uses the swimming pool as an introduction – allowing you to take your first breaths on scuba in a safe, calm and clear environment.
After a few basic scuba skills we will give you an opportunity to practice swimming practice around the pool and become comfortable and confident with the equipment you are wearing.
Your PADI Instructor will give you a briefing on how the dive will be conducted, underwater hand signals etc. as well as what you can expect to see, and then we will get into the water. Once you have descended down onto the nice sandy bottom all you have to do is breath, swim and enjoy your first experience blowing bubbles in the sea.
The Instructor will guide you around, pointing out the wonderful Koh Tao marine life while never leaving your side. By the end of the dive it will be more of a challenge to get you out of the water than it was to get them you in!
After having your eyes opened to the aquatic world, you are bound to want to give it another go. The DSD is not a certification in itself but you can go for a few extra fun dives while here. The great thing with the DSD program is that it can be credited towards the full PADI Open Water certification – which allows you to scuba dive anywhere else in the world.
The DSD experience is often the first step people take on their way to a new lifetime hobby. Believe it or not some DSD participants get so addicted to scuba that it becomes the gateway to a new career….and a new Lifestyle. Today’s DSD participants are tomorrows PADI Professionals.
And ultimately, if at the end of the day’s experience you feel that Scuba diving still isn’t for you then at least you have ticked something off your bucket list and can say that you have given it a go.
