Koh Tao Diving - Mango Bay
Located on the north side of the island, no trip to Koh Tao is complete unless you have visited Mango Bay, or “Aow Maung” as it is called in Thai. Mango Bay is “picture postcard-esque”. Aquamarine coloured water, surrounded by palm fringed coastline, boasting stunning views the bay is wide but relatively shallow.
The west side of the bay is made up of reef fused boulders that run parallel to the shoreline. This is ideal for a ‘drop off’, presenting certified divers with a great opportunity for a relaxed 50-60 minute dive without the need to be thinking too much about navigation.
With plenty to see on a drop, pay careful attention to what is hiding in the sand or in the small swim through you will discover – Jenkins Whiprays are often spotted here.
The East side of the bay is an expanse of coral reef and home to many different varieties of Wrasse as well as Parrotfish and smaller species of grouper.
You will see Mushroom, Staghorn and Table corals as well as Giant barrel sponges, Giant clams and small colourful Nudibranch. We also regularly see schools of yellowtail barracuda.
In between lays soft white sand which makes Mango Bay ideal, not just for scuba divers and snorkelers, but also for most shallow water scuba diving training dives including Discover Scuba Diving & Open Water training.
