How you learn to dive in the darkness:
Depending on your personal schedule we will adjust the program for you and move elements of your personal course to accommodate for your holiday plans, but in general, these are the parts of your training:

Part 1: Knowledge Development
The theory portion of the Night & Limited Visibility Specialty Course is designed to prepare you for the unique challenges and wonders of diving after dark. You’ll complete interactive knowledge reviews on the Training App, with your dive instructor guiding you through the material and answering any questions during review sessions.
Topics Covered Include:
- Planning and Organization: Learn how to prepare for safe and enjoyable night dives.
- Hazard Awareness: Understand how to identify and avoid potential risks specific to night diving.
- Communication Techniques: Master effective underwater communication methods using light signals.
- Dive Light Usage: Learn the proper handling, positioning, and care of dive lights.
- Night Navigation: Develop techniques to navigate confidently and safely in limited visibility.
- Equipment Considerations: Understand how to adapt and optimize your gear for night diving.
With this foundation, you’ll be equipped to handle the unique conditions of diving at night and fully enjoy the magic it offers.
Part 2: Night Dives
Once the paperwork is complete, we’ll head out for the first of two thrilling night dives. Since this course focuses exclusively on night diving, it is conducted over two evenings.
What You’ll Learn:
- Night Dive Planning and Techniques: Develop skills for planning, organizing, and conducting night dives safely.
- Buoyancy Control: Hone your buoyancy skills to adapt to the unique conditions of night diving.
- Entries, Exits, and Navigation: Learn how to manage safe water entries and exits and navigate underwater in limited visibility.
- Nocturnal Marine Life: Discover the unique plants and animals that only appear after dark.
After completing the knowledge review and both dives, you’ll earn your Night & Limited Visibility Diver certification, opening the door to magical underwater adventures at night!

The Night & Limited Visibility Specialty Prerequisites:

Minimum Age
To enrol in our Night & Limited Visibilty Specialty course you have to be minimum of 10 years old.
Minimum Certification Level
You have to be a certified diver.
Medical Statement
You need to be medically fit for diving. You will find the medical statement for scuba diving here to download. If in doubt, please check with your physician or ask us before booking your dive experience with us.
Insurance
To comply with our dive insurance requirements, you will need to have proof (logbook etc.) of a dive within the last 6 months otherwise you will need to take part in our Crystal Dive Scuba Review before taking part in the course to receive our insurance cover.

Our Underwater Videography team, Crystal Images, is available to provide you with personal and lasting memories of your experience and offer unique underwater video and photo services for your course. You can choose from a 10 minute land and underwater based video or 10-15 high resolution photographs.
These options are available for your course and can be booked by clicking the button below and choosing the ‘video & photo’ option, in addition to your course booking.

In general, yes. We start our courses any given day. To secure your desired start date, we recommend booking your Night & Limited Visibility Specialty Course online here. This will guarantee your placement in a small group of maximum 4 students per Instructor.
Is it possible to change the schedule for the Night & Limited Visibility Specialty Course?

Will I see different dive sites during my Open Water Dives in the Night Diver Specialty Course?
We have 2 custom built dive boats and choose the dive sites based on your course requirements, comfort level and weather conditions. Generally, we change dive sites on a daily basis, so you will dive at the best spots available for your Night Diver Specialty Course. More about our boats here.
