Age: 22
Internship: PADI Divemaster

What ‘Diving Lifestyle’ Internship program did you complete?

I completed my open water course in Australia then came to Koh Tao and completed my Advanced through to Divemaster Internship.

What where you doing before you joined Crystal Dive’s team to complete your scuba diving internship (Diving Lifestyle Program) on Koh Tao?

Before I came to Crystal I was travelling Asia and Australia. My first time travelling in Thailand I completed a DSD (Discover Scuba Dive) at Crystal and fell in love with diving so I knew I would have to return.

How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?

I spent around 3 months to complete my internship. I loved that you could complete it at your own pace and if you wanted days off you could. I visited Koh Phangnan for the famous full moon party and another DMT and myself completed a visa run to Malaysia for a few days and returned to complete our internship.

What was your favourite part of the scuba diving Internship and why?

My favourite part of the internship was of course being able to dive every day. I met the most amazing people at the same time, from students completing their courses to other DMT’s/Instructors on the Crystal Dive team, some of which will mostly definitely remain friends for life.

I had the best time completing my internship with everyone I met!

What was your least favourite part and why?

My least favourite part was when the visibility wasn’t as good as I had hoped (especially when you have customers/students and want to show them how good diving is on Koh Tao)

Who was your favourite Instructor and why?

There are too many to choose from! They are all great! But I chose Vic as my mentor throughout my internship as he was my advanced instructor and the first instructor I got to know. My first time assisting a course was with Vic and he made it lots of fun; my favourite assist was also with Vic, when I assisted a rescue course along with some of the other DMT’s.

Video Steve!! He was the reason I came to Crystal in the first place as he knows my cousin from back home so I have him to thank for this great experience and I am so glad I completed my internship here.

As a qualified PADI Divemaster what are you future plans with regards to scuba?

I love diving and when I am working in a boring job (like now) I just remember how much I love diving and it’s the best job so who knows maybe I will have to return to Crystal and complete my Instructor course.

And what about Koh Tao?

Koh Tao is Thailand’s best island! It honestly has a very homely feel to it. The beaches are lovely and the people are so friendly. It’s the right mix for me, great nightlife and quiet enough to chill on the beaches to cure your hangovers!!

And your favourite restaurant on Koh Tao?

Zest would have to be the best restaurant on the island for breakfast! Pranee’s restaurant right near crystal has great Thai food and it’s so cheap!

Famosa is where I often went for the best pizza/pasta, even when I felt lazy they would deliver to my bungalow-great service!

How did you spend your non diving days on Koh Tao?

When I wasn’t diving the other DMTs and myself would normally get up to something. Renting bikes and riding to other places on the island, quads to the many viewpoints or just chilling on the beach.

Where are you heading next?

Right now I am in Australia again, and hopefully will return to Koh Tao soon!
