Crystal Dive – Instructor Internship – Kacie Lee
Name: Kacie Lee
Hometown: Vancouver, Canada
Age: 22
Internship: PADI Instructor

What ‘Diving Lifestyle’ Internship program did you complete?

I did the Rescue Diver to Divemaster Internship, after that finished my PADI IDC and now doing my MSDT.

What where you doing before you joined Crystal Dive’s team to complete your scuba diving internship (Diving Lifestyle Program) on Koh Tao?

I was running an excavator and rock truck, building roads up in Northern Canada.

How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?

I started my DMT in Canada in March with over 100 dives and water temperatures as cold as 2 degrees Celsius. Brrr! I decided to make my way back to Crystal where I started diving in 2014 and complete my DMT here.

I finished in September, so it took roughly 7 months to complete my DMT! Completing it in Thailand meant visa runs, occasional days off… or scooter accident :p which makes the life here more diverse and of course worth it.

What was your favourite part of the scuba diving Internship and why?

My favourite part of my DMT was creating new friendships and coalitions whilst amplifying our knowledge together. This is a great recipe for a strong foundation of a positive and supportive bond.

What was your least favourite part and why?

This may or may not sound cliché, but I did not have a least favourite part of my DMT. I enjoy everything about diving, even if it doesn’t involve ‘bottom time’.

Who was your favourite Instructor and why?

I would love to point out favourites, but I have too many! I can’t name just one!

As a qualified PADI Instructor what are you future plans with regards to scuba?

I plan to work as an instructor for a few years and continue to make my way up the PADI career chart to becoming a Course Director.

And what about Koh Tao?

I love Koh Tao, I’ve been here four times and still can’t get enough. Everything about the island is what you’d imagine as a tropical paradise.

And your favourite restaurant on Koh Tao?

La Pizzeria, I love their pizza! Soft crust and delicious flavours.

How did you spend your non diving days on Koh Tao?

I spent my non-diving days scooting around the island to find hidden little beaches, during the evening, if I’m not watching a game of footie, I’d be watching horror films or comedies on Netflix.

Where are you heading next?

My plan is to stay here for another year if everything works out and I get the job that I have my sights set on!
