What PADI scuba diving Internship program did you complete?
I chose the Divemaster Lifestyle package and am now undertaking the Divemaster Internship.
What were you doing before you joined Crystal Dive?
Within the year before I joined Crystal, I graduated from Uni, fell in love with diving, worked in a dive shop for a bit, then went back home to pack up my life so that I could move out here for good.
How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?
It took me two months to complete the divemaster program, now I am doing the internship for two weeks.
What was your favourite part of your scuba diving internship and why?
There were many great moments, but I think the best realisation was that I was actually not too bad at underwater navigation!
What was your least favourite and why?
Mosquitos in the kit room.
Who was your favourite instructor and why?
There is so much to learn from each and every instructor and divemaster in Crystal, but I especially learned a lot from Kate and unfortunately Wilmar, although I hate to admit it.
During your scuba diving internship which of the additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program activities did you take part in and which did you enjoy the most?
My favourite was definitely the drupella snail collection and cleaning off the tunicates from the structures at Junkyard. So therapeutic! I also took part in beach and divesite cleans, COTS collections, coral watch, and an introduction to reef checks.
Do you think our additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program was beneficial to your Professional level scuba diving training and if so why?
Definitely, the more we learn about the environment we dive in, the better we can take care of it, and the better we can inform others about it. I also think that having done the ECO activities, I have better understanding and awareness about the problems our environment faces and how important it is to keep it safe.
As a qualified PADI Divemaster what are your future plans with regards to scuba?
At the moment I think I will just enjoy being a divemaster and see what the future holds.
And what about Koh Tao….
Yang for Thai food, El Toro and Dolce Vita for Pizza.
How did you spend your non-diving days?
If I wasn’t diving I was usually sick, hungover or frantically looking for accommodation.
Where are you heading to next?
Wherever life takes me!
