What PADI scuba diving Internship program did you complete?
What were you doing before you joined Crystal Dive?
Finishing my IB courses at high school in Hong Kong.
How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?
What was your favourite part of your scuba diving internship and why?
I enjoyed leading fun dives, its nice meeting divers who just want to get in the water and explore.
What was your least favourite and why?
I enjoyed almost all of it but spending long periods in the pool when you aren’t involved in demonstrating skills or even logistics with the students due to low ratios or little attempts to involve the dive master candidate.
Who was your favourite instructor and why?
I found Benno and Steph really helpful throughout the Divemaster Course. Benno was really good at getting me involved with showing skills and helping the open water students. Steph was really good at offering advice to improve my skills.
As well as Mat, for great advice.
During your scuba diving internship which of the additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program activities did you take part in and which did you enjoy the most?
Beach Clean ups, Dive Site Clean ups, Buoyancy course builds. Reef Checks.
Do you think our additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program was beneficial to your Professional level scuba diving training and if so why?
Yes, I think it’s a great addition to an extensive course. Specifically the reef check course and dive site clean ups which I think offer a practical way a single person can improve diving wherever they are.
As a qualified PADI Professional, what are your future plans with regards to scuba?
After completing my IDC, IE and MSDT programs. Hopefully I will be able to find a weekend job working at a Diving school in Auckland or the surrounding area.
And what about Koh Tao….
I would love to come back for my summer break and work here, it’s a great place to relax and get away from the urban rush.
How did you spend your non-diving days?
Relaxing and exploring Koh Tao on my scooters, day trips to Tanote Bay, cliff jumping.
Where are you heading to next?
To University in Auckland, NZ.
