What where you doing before you joined Crystal Dive’s team to complete your scuba diving internship on Koh Tao?
I was working in a office as a software engineer.
How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?
What was your favourite part of the scuba diving Internship and why?
People and diving are the first things coming to my mind. I met fantastic people during my stay and I’m sure everyone would say the same. Crystal is one of the larger schools with 3 dive boats, several training pools and instructors from all over the world; this allows them to organize a good variety of courses and specialities. Wreck and Nitrox are my favourites.
What was your least favourite part and why?
I have to think about this one! I think saying goodbye to good friends every time they were going back home, but fortunately at some point everyone is coming back to the island.
Who was your favourite Instructor and why?
This is a hard one, I learned bit and pieces from so many instructors, but if I have to pick one I’d say Manu. He was always available for a beer and a chat and to give really good advice. I really liked his style of teaching, especially underwater, and I’ve tried to copy it.
As a qualified PADI Instructor what are your future plans with regards to scuba?
I’d like to continue teaching, probably on Koh Tao. I was lucky enough to see a whaleshark around the island, now I’d like to see hammerheads, so I might plan a trip to Indonesia or Philippines.
And what about Koh Tao?
The lifestyle is just amazing, everyone on the island is relaxed and you have the chance to chose in between many activities while you are not diving: all kind of water sports, yoga, hiking, cycling, rock climbing and even a trapeze just to give some examples.
And your favourite restaurant on Koh Tao?
“Da’s” for sure, she provided almost all my lunches during my stay, she is really nice and friendly and her sandwich is just the best on the island. “Neptune” is a really good one too. Even though my name doesn’t sound like it, I am Italian and I can guarantee they have best Italian food and pizza and the service is just awesome.
How did you spend your non diving days on Koh Tao?
Non diving days on Koh Tao? Really? I love diving and I still enjoy fun diving on my days off. All joking aside, I enjoyed rock climbing and exploring the island driving to all the viewpoints.
Where are you heading next?
I’m in Italy at the moment, I’d like to go back on Koh Tao or try diving in Sipadan, Komodo or Raja Ampat.
