Crystal Dive – Divemaster Internship – Nicholas Ziebarth
Name: Nicholas Ziebarth
Hometown: Australia
Age: 33
Internship: PADI Divemaster

What PADI scuba diving Internship program did you complete?

I completed Open Water to Divemaster.

What were you doing before you joined Crystal Dive?

I was working in a Hotel.

How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?

5 Months.

What was your favourite part of your scuba diving internship and why?

I really enjoyed the way Crystal conducted business they are very professional and comprehensive in all their training programs, but keep it a lot of fun and definitely know how to have a great time after hours. They really make you feel like you are part of a family.

What was your least favourite and why?

My least favourite part was leaving my friends and family back home, but this has been a great adventure with amazing experiences of underwater discovery.

Who was your favourite instructor and why?

Well this is a tough question as I have learnt a lot from all the Instructors that I have had the pleasure of diving with, but there are two that really stand out.

Neil Davidson – he was my mentor during my DMT and taught me my Open WaterAdvanced Open Water and a hand full of specialities. An absolute legend for sharing his knowledge of diving with me and also being able to get to know him on a personal level, I now consider him a great friend.

The other would be Heather Nicholson, probably the reason I stayed so long in Koh Tao. I think we just clicked.

During your scuba diving internship which of the additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program activities did you take part in and which did you enjoy the most?

I went to some seminars, beach cleans and did the introduction to reef check that was provided as part of the DMT program, it was very interesting and I learnt a lot of useful knowledge that I can now pass on to others.

Do you think our additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program was beneficial to your Professional level scuba diving training and if so why?

This is a very important part to diving just with the sheer number of divers who dive the sites in Koh Tao it is important that people are aware of the impact we can make if we don’t take care of this special place we at Crystal call Paradise.

As a qualified PADI Divemaster what are your future plans with regards to scuba?

I would love to work in the industry, and continue building on my skills, who knows I might get offered some work and be able to extend my Holiday.

And what about Koh Tao?

I feel very comfortable here and would like to stay longer and contribute to Koh Tao and the diving community.
