Divemaster Internship – Nick De Dycker
Name: Nick De Dycker
Hometown: Amsterdam
Age: 22
Internship: PADI Divemaster

What PADI scuba diving Internship program did you complete?

The PADI Divemaster Lifestyle internship.

What were you doing before you joined Crystal Dive?

I was in University and worked in IT as a sidejob.

How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?

3 months.

What was your favourite part of your scuba diving internship and why?

Assisting on the Rescue course and pretending to be a tired/panicked diver. It is more exhausting than it sounds.

What was your least favourite and why?

Mosquitos in the equipment room, especially in the morning.

Who was your favourite instructor and why?

My mentor Josh for assisting me through the Divemaster course.

During your scuba diving internship which of the additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program activities did you take part in and which did you enjoy the most?

Cleaning divesites, removing drupella snails and maintaining junkyard. Maintaining Junkyard was probably the most as I got to use a lift bag.

Do you think our additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program was beneficial to your Professional level scuba diving training and if so why?

Yes, you learn how to keep a dive site clean and how to do research on corals.

As a qualified PADI Divemaster what are your future plans with regards to scuba?

I’m doing my TEC 50 currently and plan to go for my PADI Full Trimix course. For the moment no plans to become an Instructor.

And what about Koh Tao….

Favourite Restaurant?

How did you spend your non-diving days?

If I couldn’t go diving I was either hanging out with friends or hungover.

Where are you heading to next?

Back home to save up again.
