What PADI scuba diving Internship program did you complete?
I completed the divemaster lifestyle internship and then went on to Instructor course and Specialty Instructor (MSDT). I had completed my open water and advanced open water at Crystal back in 2013 and I finally returned in 2018 to do my rescue course, divemaster internship and Instructor Internship.
What were you doing before you joined Crystal Dive?
I had been living in Perth, Australia for the past 6 years before arriving at Crystal. I spent the previous 3 years working at Perth International Airport for Qantas Freight coordinating air freight for various flights to and from Perth.
How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?
It took me 8 weeks to finish my divemaster from the beginning of April to June and then into October for Instructor Internship and training.
What was your favourite part of your scuba diving internship and why?
It’s hard to pick one favourite part, I would say that one of the best parts of the internship was making some amazing friends for life. Everyone at Crystal Dive has a common passion for diving and there is always a great feeling around the place. Assisting on open water courses with uncertified divers was also a highlight, it was very rewarding seeing the students develop over the four days.
What was your least favourite and why?
Definitely the mosquitos in the kit room.
Who was your favourite instructor and why?
All of the instructors were great during my internship, every instructor has a slightly different style so it was great to learn from this.
During your scuba diving internship which of the additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program activities did you take part in and which did you enjoy the most?
I took part in a variety of different ECO activities during my internship, I’d have to say the dive site clean ups were my favourite. It was always fun getting to dive with fellow divemaster candidates and friends while making a difference.
Do you think our additional Marine Conservation ‘ECO’ program was beneficial to your Professional level scuba diving training and if so why?
Yes, it was extremely beneficial and I learnt a lot about the environment and how we can help protect it.
As a qualified PADI MSDT (Specialty Instructor), what are your future plans with regards to scuba?
I’d love to gain some experience as a professional in the industry and have since taken my intro to Tec diving with Tec 40 and also sidemount diving.
And what about Koh Tao:
Koh Tao is paradise, I love the laid back lifestyle.
Favourite Restaurant? Yangs, great cheap food and the portions are big.
How did you spend your non-diving days? Relaxing and usually recovering from a hangover
Where are you heading to next? Undecided yet, wherever the diving takes me.
