What were you doing before you joined Crystal Dive’s team to complete your scuba diving internship on Koh Tao?

I came to Koh Tao 1 year ago and completed my Open Water and Advanced Open Water at Crystal and then left to travel New Zealand and Australia before coming back and completing my Divemaster Training.

How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?

39 glorious days, during which I took 3 days off and went on a visa run to Samui.

What was your favourite part of the scuba diving Internship and why?

Skills and Workshops and assisting Instructors on Open Water classes. Teaching is a passion of mine and so being trained with the skills to help someone become a diver, and then actually put that into practice, was very memorable for me.

What was your least favourite part and why?

During the final week or so of my DMT there were a lot of other DMTs on short time scales and so being low season as well, it was very difficult to get the last couple of assists in to finish the course.

Who was your favourite Instructor and why?

Crystal’s Instructors are amazing, you can go to them with anything; advice, help, tuition, but to narrow it down to one I’d have to say my mentor throughout my DMT, Neil Davidson. Neil was my Rescue course Instructor and I also assisted him on an Open Water course.

His style of teaching is very direct and lot’s of fun. I learnt a great deal from him and can’t wait to put those skills into practice.

As a qualifed PADI Divemaster what are you future plans with regards to scuba?

I plan on sticking around Crystal for a few months to work as a Divemaster before I take on my IDC and MSDT and become a PADI Instructor.

And what about Koh Tao?

Koh Tao has become a home to me. I feel like part of a family here and I have no intention of leaving any time soon. The island is abundant with beautful beaches and bars by day and amazing food and parties by night.

And your favourite restaurant on Koh Tao?

My favourite restaurant on the island is La Carotte Qui Rit. It’s a vegetarian and vegan place but even as a meat eater, the food there is superb.

How did you spend your non diving days on Koh Tao?

The island is as beautiful on land as it is under the water. Renting an ATV is a great way to explore the many beaches and view points.

Where are you heading next?

I’m heading up the PADI ladder once I’ve worked as a DM for a few months here at Crystal.
