What ‘Diving Lifestyle’ Internship program did you complete?
What where you doing before you joined Crystal Dive’s team to complete your scuba diving internship (Diving Lifestyle Program) on Koh Tao?
Working/travelling on cruise ships with my husband.
How long have you spent completing your scuba diving internship?
4 months (had a few days off in between and left the island a couple of times to renew visas)
What was your favourite part of the scuba diving Internship and why?
Apart from fun diving with my friends and husband. Obtaining the ability to pass on the knowledge of doing what I love – being in the ocean! And seeing the transformation of fear into courage in other people.
What was your least favourite part and why?
Witnessing peoples’ fear of going under water. There’s nothing to be afraid of – the ocean is pure and beautiful.
Who was your favourite Instructor and why?
I love each individual at Crystal for their different qualities. They all contributed to my development in scuba diving, but the person that I look up to most is Bob Murphy. Bob is always willing to share his vast knowledge to anyone and everyone and always has a good sense of humour.
As a qualified PADI Instructor what are you future plans with regards to scuba?
My near future plan is to keep travelling with my husband to places where we can surf and get any work to do with scuba diving. Eventually it would be great to get more surfers involved in scuba diving too. Ultimately we all love and can work together to protect and preserve our ocean?
And what about Koh Tao?
Koh Tao hasbeen a great development platform to concentrate on and gain working experience in scuba diving. Everyone on the island lives and breathes scuba! I have met amazing people and made some friends for life!
And your favourite restaurant on Koh Tao?
My favourite restaurants on Koh Tao are in Mae Haad: Sawadee and Yangs. Yangs have a wide selection of different types of food and drinks, free water and bananas, they accommodate for big groups of people. It’s great to go there and eat with all my besties!
‘Sawadee’ is a small thai-style street restaurant, the lady that runs the place is so sweet and her food is amazing. Great value for money.
How did you spend your non diving days on Koh Tao?
Snorkelling is one of my favourite things to do when not diving, exploring the island, hanging out with friends, leaving Koh Tao to renew visas. During the Divemaster internship, if i was not taking customers diving I’d be learning about getting the boats ready to take divers out and doing scuba reviews (refresher course) in the pool with customers that haven’t been diving for some time.
Where are you heading next?
My husband and I haven’t made any solid plans on the next adventure yet. Anywhere that will accommodate the both of us to work diving and surfing will be where we are headed next.
