Take Your Deep Diving Specialty Course on Koh Tao
The SSI Deep Diving Specialty Course prepares you for the unique challenges of exploring dive sites beyond 30 meters. This certification gives you access to the 40-meter dive certification limit, opening up wrecks, walls, and other deeper environments that most recreational divers never get to see.
Taught by highly experienced instructors, this course combines classroom theory, real-world experience, and detailed briefings to ensure you leave with lasting confidence and skill. It’s one of the most popular deep diving courses on Koh Tao, and a must for divers looking to go beyond the basics.
Why Take This Course?
Unlock the 40m limit, learn how to dive deep safely, and experience new sites with the confidence and training to match.
You’ll gain experience in dive planning, gas management, buoyancy at depth, and handling limited visibility.
The course also introduces you to important risk factors like nitrogen narcosis and how to recognize and respond to it.
Learning how to dive deep safely is a valuable step in your scuba journey, whether you dive recreationally or have ambitions to go pro.

Part 1: Knowledge Development
Before diving in, you’ll review theory through the SSI app, covering topics like nitrogen narcosis, air consumption at depth, redundant equipment, and deep diving safety. Your instructor will guide you through real-world applications and help you build a solid understanding of what changes the deeper you go.
There’s no final exam — just practical, focused discussion that prepares you to plan and execute deep dives with confidence. You’ll also review local dive site conditions and gear considerations specific to deep diving on Koh Tao.
Part 2: Deep Dives 1 & 2
Your first two dives will take you beyond the 18-meter recreational limit, into the 18–30 meter range. These dives focus on getting comfortable with deeper conditions, including limited light, faster air consumption, and adjusted buoyancy.
You’ll practise dive planning, track your no-decompression limits (NDL), and refine your navigation while experiencing the environmental changes that make deep diving so unique.
Part 3: Deep Dive 3
The final dive takes you to the maximum recreational limit of 40 meters. You’ll plan this dive alongside your instructor, simulate emergency decompression procedures, and apply everything you’ve learned so far.
This is the capstone of the course: it gives you your 40-meter dive certification and gives you the confidence to explore new sites while knowing exactly how to dive deeper safely.
