What You’ll Learn in the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty Course
The Nitrox Specialty Course is completed in just half a day and combines theory with optional practical dives. You’ll start by learning how to plan and conduct dives using nitrox blends safely, including how to set your dive computer, analyse tank contents, and monitor oxygen exposure. For those who want to experience scuba diving with nitrox, optional dives are available after the academic portion is complete.

Part 1: Theory and Practical Skills
You’ll begin with an orientation and dive into your digital training material via the SSI app.
Your instructor will help you understand how oxygen levels affect dive planning and how to avoid risks like oxygen toxicity.
You’ll also learn to analyse gas mixes and plan safe nitrox dives using your computer.
This portion focuses on building confidence in the technical knowledge needed to dive safely with enriched air.
Part 2: Optional Nitrox Dives
If you choose to add dives to your nitrox specialty course, you’ll apply what you’ve learned by analysing your tank, adjusting your dive computer, and making real-world dives using nitrox.
These dives allow you to experience the benefits firsthand, including reduced nitrogen absorption and longer bottom times.
There are no extra in-water skills to perform, so you can focus on safe, enjoyable diving. Nitrox tanks can be added to your dive trip for 400 THB per tank

Nitrox Specialty Course Requirements
The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty Course is open to most certified divers and requires only a few basic prerequisites. These requirements help ensure you’re prepared for both the theory and (optional) diving components of the program.

Minimum Age
You must be at least 10 years old to enroll in the Nitrox Specialty Course. Divers under 15 will have some limits on their certification until they reach the age of 15.
Minimum Certification Level
You’ll need to hold an Open Water Diver certification or equivalent from any recognized training agency. The nitrox certification course is suitable for all experience levels and is a popular choice for those continuing their dive education in Thailand.
Medical Statement
All divers must be medically fit for scuba diving. You can download the required medical form here. If you answer “yes” to any of the questions, please consult your doctor before joining the course.
Recent Diving Experience
If you haven’t logged a dive in the past six months, we’ll ask you to complete a short Scuba Review before joining your nitrox training. This ensures you’re refreshed and ready to apply your theory in a real dive environment, if you’ve chosen to include the optional dives

Can I start my Enriched Air Specialty every day?
In general, yes. We start our courses any given day. To secure your desired start date, we recommend booking your Enriched Air Specialty online here. This will guarantee your placement in a small group of maximum 4 students per instructor.
Is it possible to change the schedule for the Enriched Air Specialty?
Our schedules are flexible and we will do everything to adjust it to your travel plans. Please contact us to arrange for a schedule that suits you within the limits of the Enriched Air Specialty performance requirements.
What are the rates for accommodation in my Enriched Air Specialty?
For your Enriched Air Specialty we offer accommodation in a private AC room (choice of Double or Twin) at a discounted rate for the standard course duration of 1 night. How many students will be together with me in my Enriched Air Specialty?
We pride ourselves to teach our Enriched Air Specialty personal in groups of max. 4 students per instructor. If you still prefer a smaller group or a private course please contact us directly. On the other hand, if you travel in a bigger group, please let us know and we will arrange for multiple instructors to teach you together.
Will I see different dive sites during my open water dives in the Enriched Air Specialty?
We have 2 custom built dive boats and choose the dive sites based on your course requirements, comfort level and weather conditions. Generally, we change dive sites on a daily basis, so you will dive at the best spots available for your Enriched Air Specialty. More about our boats here.
Can I take a Go Pro on my dives for the Enriched Air Specialty?
Currently, under Thai law, neither students nor instructors are allowed to use cameras during any course, except for specific photo/video courses. Our in-house Video & Photo company Crystal Images can take professional photos or a broadcast quality video of you on two of your dives on the Enriched Air Specialty.
