Part 1 – Theory & SSI React Right First Aid
Your rescue diver course in Thailand begins with the SSI First Aid and Oxygen Course, the foundation of the full React Right certification. This course covers first aid, CPR, AED use, and oxygen administration, all core emergency skills for scuba diving that are also essential for everyday life.
Through digital learning and instructor-led workshops, you’ll learn how to handle scuba diving emergencies both on land and underwater. If you already hold a valid CPR and first aid certification, you’ll only need to complete the oxygen administration module to qualify for the rescue training. Just let us know in advance and we’ll tailor the course accordingly.
After the SSI React Right Course, you’ll complete your Rescue Diver theory using SSI’s e-learning platform and classroom review. This section focuses on identifying stress in divers, preventing incidents, and preparing for real-world rescue scenarios.
Part 2 – Pool Training
Before heading into the ocean, we’ll begin your rescue diver course in our dedicated dive pool here in Thailand. You’ll first brush up on self-rescue techniques because in order to help others, you need to first manage yourself confidently in the water.
Next, you’ll practice controlled responses to key rescue situations: assisting tired divers, managing panic underwater, surfacing unresponsive divers, and performing rescue breaths on the surface. This safe environment is the perfect place to build confidence before testing your emergency scuba diving skills in open water.
Part 3 – Open Water Rescue Scenarios
Out in the open ocean, you’ll apply your knowledge and pool skills during realistic team-based rescue exercises. These dives focus on reacting effectively to emergencies from shore or boat, assigning roles, and using your new emergency scuba diving skills in dynamic settings.
On your final day, you’ll complete your capstone “rescue scenario” dives. These simulations challenge you to manage a complex situation from start to finish, including locating missing divers, surfacing unresponsive victims, and coordinating full team rescues.
This is where the course really comes to life. By the end, you’ll have the confidence to act quickly and correctly in emergencies, backed by solid training from the SSI Rescue Diver course, the SSI React Right Course, and your SSI First Aid and Oxygen Course. It’s one of the most rewarding and respected certification groupings you can earn in recreational diving.
