Minimum Age
You must be at least 18 years old to enrol in this program.
Certifications
To participate in the assistant instructor trainer course, you must be an active-status Divemaster Instructor. In addition, you should have a proven teaching record that demonstrates experience across multiple SSI programs.
This includes having issued a minimum of:
- 30 Open Water Diver certifications
- 3 Stress & Rescue certifications
- 2 Dive Guide or Divemaster certifications
- 15 Advanced Adventurer or Specialty program certifications
This teaching experience reflects your ability to guide students through a full training pathway, a crucial skill for those looking to support new instructors and pursue long-term professional dive career training
Medical Statement

What’s Included in the Assistant Instructor Trainer Course

The Assistant Instructor Trainer course is designed to give experienced instructors everything they need to step into a mentorship role with confidence.
This package focuses on practical teaching, evaluation skills, and structured support.
You’ll take part in the full SSI Assistant Instructor Trainer Seminar, receive mentorship from our senior Instructor Trainers, and gain hands-on experience supporting real ITC candidates.
During the program, you’ll also have access to full scuba equipment, including free use of a dive computer, and receive discounts on additional SSI courses and equipment purchases.

Can I start my Assistant Instructor Trainer Course any day?
No, the Instructor courses run on a strict schedule to fit around the regular monthly exam dates. However if you decide on attending a course that we have scheduled, we can send you some materials for you to start preparing sith self study.
How much time is required?
The assistant instructor trainer schedule follows one full IE, which runs over approximately 14 days.
What are the rates for accommodation?
For your assistant instructor trainer course we offer accommodation in a private AC room (choice of Double or Twin) at a discounted rate. More information here or just contact us directly.
What are the minimum requirements to start my Assistant Instructor Trainer Course?
You will need to be 18 years of age, be a Divemaster Instructor (or other agency equivelant) and have issues at least 30 Open Water certifications, 3 Diver Stress & Rescue certifications, 2 Dive guide/Divemaster certifications and 15 Advanced Adventurer and/or Specialty programs. What sort of jobs can I do with my Assistant Instructor Trainer certification?
As an Assistant Instructor Trainer you could become a valued member in professional level training at a dive center. You would be able to assist an Instructor Trainer throughout an ITC and help shape future Instructors.
Can I Work for Crystal Dive after completing my course?
Yes! We constantly have a rotation of staff as many people work for us temporarily. If you decide you would like the chance to join the team, you can do a working internship.
