What’s Involved in the SCUBA Diver Course
In just two days, you can earn a certification to dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet). Here’s what’s included in this beginner dive lesson, even if you’ve requested a tailored schedule to match your travel plans.

Part 1: Theory
The SCUBA Diver Course covers the first half of the Open Water Course theory — split into three manageable sections.
Topics include safe diving practices, essential dive equipment, and an introduction to the underwater environment.
Once on-site, you’ll meet your instructor for an orientation, review key points, and get your questions answered. A strong foundation in dive theory is vital for a safe and fun underwater experience. And you can even start your learning online before you even arrive on Koh Tao.
Part 2: Pool-Training
Once you’ve completed at least three chapters of the self-study portion of the course theory, it’s time to put your new knowledge into practice!
You’ll begin in the shallow water of our private training pool, learning to breathe underwater, clear your mask, and master other essential diving skills.
Your instructor will guide you every step of the way, helping you build confidence in a confined environment before you take your first dive in the ocean. Take as much time as you need — most people finish pool training in half a day to a full day, but you’re free to go at your own pace.
Part 3: Open Water Dives
This is where everything comes together! You’ll head out from our private pier on one of our dive boats to explore Koh Tao’s stunning underwater world with two unforgettable open water dives.
Practice your new skills while enjoying vibrant coral reefs and unique marine life. These dives reach a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet).
If you love it, you can easily upgrade later to the full Open Water Diver certification, allowing you to increase your maximum depth to 18 meters (59 feet).

Before You Start the SCUBA Diver Course
While the SCUBA Diver Course is a beginner-level course, there are a few simple requirements you will need to meet before you can start. These guidelines are in place to make sure you’re safe, comfortable, and ready for your beginner dive lesson

Fitness
You don’t need to be an athlete or in peak physical shape to register for the SCUBA Diver Course. All you need is a sense of adventure and a little bit of curiosity!
Comfort in Water
Before starting your SCUBA diver course, or any beginner dive lesson, it’s helpful to be comfortable in the water and have some basic swimming skills. There’s a short swim test that requires you to swim 200 metres unaided and float or tread water for 10 minutes. If you’re not sure about your skills, feel free to reach out.
Minimum Age
To start the SCUBA Diver Course, you will need to be at least 10 years old (making it the perfect certification-based SCUBA course for kids).
Medical Statement
To participate in beginner dive lessons, you need to be medically fit to dive. You can download the required medical statement here. If you’re unsure whether you’re fit to dive, please consult your doctor or get in touch with us before booking your SCUBA Diver Course.You need to be medically fit for diving.

Can I start my Scuba Diver Course every day?
In general, yes. We start our courses any given day. To secure your desired start date, we recommend booking your Scuba Course online here. This will guarantee your placement in a small group of maximum 4 students per instructor.
Please be advised that you will need extra study time before arrival to complete the necessary sections to start with in-water training.
Is it possible to change the schedule for the Scuba Diver Course?
Our schedules are flexible and we will do everything to adjust it to your travel plans. Please contact us to arrange for a schedule that suits you within the limits of the Scuba Diver Course performance requirements.

How many students will be together with me in my Scuba Diver Course?
We pride ourselves to teach our Scuba Diver Course personal in groups of max. 4 students per instructor. If you still prefer a smaller group or a private course please contact us directly. On the other hand, if you travel in a bigger group, please let us know and we will arrange for multiple instructors to teach you together.
Will I see different dive sites during my open water dives in the Scuba Diver Course?
We have 2 custom built dive boats and choose the dive sites based on your course requirements, comfort level and weather conditions. Generally, we change dive sites on a daily basis, so you will dive at the best spots available for your Scuba Diver Course. More about our boats here.
Can I take a Go Pro on my dives for the Scuba Diver Course?
Currently, under Thai law, neither students nor instructors are allowed to use cameras during any course, except for specific photo/video courses. Our in-house video & photo company Crystal Images provides perfect pictures or amazing underwater videos for you for a small surcharge. Check out this link: Video-Option.
