Over two days, you’ll complete five adventure dives with one of our experienced instructors in a small group of no more than four students.
You’ll choose the dives that interest you most, with options like Deep Diving, Wreck Diving, and Night Diving. If you select Deep Diving, your certification will allow you to dive to 30 metres worldwide.

What to Expect from the SSI Advanced Adventurer Course
This advanced dive training is flexible, experience-based, and designed to fit around your travel plans. Over two days, you’ll complete five specialty dives that introduce you to new skills, environments, and equipment — all guided by one of our experienced instructors. There’s no final exam, and the course is fully customisable to match your interests and comfort level.

Part 1: Dive Theory and Briefings
Before each advanced training dive, you’ll complete short theory modules using the SSI e-learning platform. You’ll only study the sections relevant to the dives you choose, making the process more efficient and enjoyable. Some dives, like Navigation, may also include land-based skills to prepare you for what you’ll experience underwater.
Part 2: Five Adventure Dives in Two Days
You’ll complete five dives in the ocean, scheduled across two days and tailored to your selected specialties. We match each dive to the best available site and your comfort level. Shallow dives like Perfect Buoyancy or Navigation are often done first to help you settle in, while deeper options, like Wreck or Deep Diving, may come later in the course. All dives are conducted in small groups for a safer, more personalised experience.

This advanced dive training in Thailand is typically completed over two days, but the schedule can be adjusted to suit your plans. Below is an example of what your course might look like, including theory, shallow and deep dives, and an optional night dive.

SSI Advanced Adventurer Course Prerequisites
Before starting your advanced scuba course on Koh Tao, there are a few important requirements you’ll need to meet. These ensure your safety, improve your learning experience, and allow us to deliver high-quality advanced dive training in Thailand to every diver. Minimum Certification Level
To enrol in the SSI Advanced Adventurer Course, you must hold an Open Water Diver certification from SSI or any recognised training agency (such as PADI, NAUI, RAID, or CMAS).
Minimum Age
The minimum age to join is 10 years old, in which case you’ll be certified as a Junior Advanced Adventurer. Please note:
- Divers aged 10–11 are limited to a maximum depth of 12 metres
- Divers aged 12–14 are limited to 21 metres and must dive under the supervision of a certified adult
- At 15 years old, these depth restrictions are lifted, and you’ll be recognised as a standard Advanced Adventurer Diver
Medical Statement
All divers must be medically fit to dive. You’ll need to complete and sign a medical questionnaire prior to the course. If you answer “Yes” to any health conditions, a physician’s clearance may be required. You can download the official scuba medical form here.
Recent Dive Experience
For insurance coverage, you’ll need to show proof of a logged dive within the last six months. If it’s been longer, you’ll need to complete a Scuba Review with us before starting your training. This ensures you’re refreshed, confident, and fully covered for all parts of the course.

Can I start my Advanced Adventurer Course every day?
In general, yes. We start our courses any given day. To secure your desired start date, we recommend booking your Advanced Adventurer Course online here. This will guarantee your placement in a small group of maximum 4 students per Instructor.
Is it possible to change the schedule for the Advanced Adventurer Course?
Our schedules are flexible and we will do everything to adjust it to your travel plans. Please contact us to arrange for a schedule that suits you within the limits of the Advanced Adventurer Course performance requirements.
Is there a shorter course option available for the Advanced Adventurer Course?
You are only allowed to complete a maximum of 3 training dives in a single day. As such you will need at least 1.5 days to complete the Advanced Adventurer Course. If you are short on time, think about taking a Speciality instead, which only takes one day to complete. Contact us at any time for more information.
What are the rates for accommodation in my Advanced Adventurer Course?
For your Advanced Adventurer Course we offer accommodation in a private AC room (choice of Double or Twin) at a discounted rate for the standard course duration of 2 nights. There are also upgrade options available for the adjacent Koh Tao Regal or Beach Club Resort. More information here or just contact us directly.

How many students will be together with me in my Advanced Adventurer Course?
We pride ourselves to teach our Advanced Adventurer Course personal in groups of max. 4 students per Instructor. If you still prefer a smaller group or a private course please contact us directly. On the other hand, if you travel in a bigger group, please let us know and we will arrange for multiple Instructors to teach you together.
Will I see different dive sites during my Open Water Dives in the Advanced Adventurer Course?
We have 3 custom built dive boats and choose the dive sites based on your course requirements, comfort level and weather conditions. Generally, we change dive sites on a daily basis, so you will dive at the best spots available for your Advanced Adventurer Course. More about our boats here.
Can I take a Go Pro on my dives for the Advanced Adventurer Course?
Currently, under Thai law, neither students nor instructors are allowed to use cameras during any course, except for specific photo/video courses. Our In-House Video & Photo company Crystal Images can take professional photos or a broadcast quality video of you on two of your dives of the Advanced Adventurer Course.
