Part 1: Theory & Land Practice
The theoretical part of the Advanced Adventurer course is lighter than your Open Water course and focuses more on your personal interests in scuba diving.
You’ll gain access to the Advanced Adventurer E-Manual, which provides detailed information about the wide range of activities and adventure dives available worldwide.
From these options, you’ll choose five elective dives to tailor the course to your preferences. Once you’ve made your selections, you’ll review the chapters that cover the essential knowledge and skills for each dive.
Some dives, like navigation, may include a bit of land-based practice before heading out on the boat. This hands-on preparation helps you better understand and visualize the upcoming dives.
There’s no exam at the end of this course. Instead, you’ll complete the theory portion by reviewing your Knowledge Reviews with your instructor, making the learning process more enjoyable and stress-free.
Part 2: Your 5 Adventure Dives

Over the course of two days, you’ll complete five Adventure Dives, tailored to your chosen dive types, schedule, and preferences.

We design your schedule based on daily dive site availability, your comfort level, and prior diving experience, ensuring a perfect fit for your needs.
Start with Core Skills
Typically, dives like Navigation or Perfect Buoyancy are conducted at shallower dive sites, making them ideal for the beginning of the course. These dives refine your air consumption, enhance essential underwater skills, and help you build confidence with your instructor on Day 1.
Explore Deeper Dives
For deep dives, we often pair them with naturally deeper dive sites, like our popular wreck dive sites.
New Experiences
Try the night dive option to experience the marine environment after dark!
Part 3: The Dive Options
It will be tricky to do an ice or altitude dive on Koh Tao, so your local options are:

Minimum Certification Level
To become a Advanced Adventurer Diver, you will have to be certified as a Open Water Diver (or hold an equivalent certification of another recognised training agency).
Minimum Age
The minimum age to sign up for the Junior-Advanced Adventurer is 10 years.
Please note:
Divers 10-11 years old are limited to 12m depth.
Divers 12 – 14 years old are limited to 21m deep and have to dive under supervision of an adult until they reach the age of 15.
Medical Statement
You need to be medically fit for diving. You find the Medical Statement for scuba diving here to download. If in doubt, please check with your physician or ask us before booking your dive experience with us.
Insurance
To comply with our dive insurance requirements, you will need to have proof (logbook etc.) of a dive within the last 6 months otherwise you will need to take part in our Crystal Dive Scuba Review before taking part in the course to receive our insurance cover.

Our Underwater Videography team, Crystal Images, is available to provide you with personal and lasting memories of your experience and offer unique underwater video and photo services for your course. You can choose from a 10 minute land and underwater based video or 10-15 high resolution photographs.

Can I start my Advanced Adventurer Course every day?
In general, yes. We start our courses any given day. To secure your desired start date, we recommend booking your Advanced Adventurer Course online here. This will guarantee your placement in a small group of maximum 4 students per Instructor.
Is it possible to change the schedule for the Advanced Adventurer Course?
Our schedules are flexible and we will do everything to adjust it to your travel plans. Please contact us to arrange for a schedule that suits you within the limits of the Advanced Adventurer Course performance requirements.
Is there a shorter course option available for the Advanced Adventurer Course?
You are only allowed to complete a maximum of 3 training dives in a single day. As such you will need at least 1.5 days to complete the Advanced Adventurer Course. If you are short on time, think about taking a Speciality instead, which only takes one day to complete. Contact us at any time for more information.
What are the rates for accommodation in my Advanced Adventurer Course?
For your Advanced Adventurer Course we offer accommodation in a private AC room (choice of Double or Twin) at a discounted rate for the standard course duration of 2 nights. There are also upgrade options available for the adjacent Koh Tao Regal or Beach Club Resort. More information here or just contact us directly.
What are the minimum requirements to start my Advanced Adventurer Course?

How many students will be together with me in my Advanced Adventurer Course?
We pride ourselves to teach our Advanced Adventurer Course personal in groups of max. 4 students per Instructor. If you still prefer a smaller group or a private course please contact us directly. On the other hand, if you travel in a bigger group, please let us know and we will arrange for multiple Instructors to teach you together.
Will I see different dive sites during my Open Water Dives in the Advanced Adventurer Course?
We have 3 custom built dive boats and choose the dive sites based on your course requirements, comfort level and weather conditions. Generally, we change dive sites on a daily basis, so you will dive at the best spots available for your Advanced Adventurer Course. More about our boats here.
Can I take a Go Pro on my dives for the Advanced Adventurer Course?
You can take your own camera on any of the dives. Be aware though, that you may be busy with the tasks at hand. A better option may be to arrange for our In-House Video & Photo company Crystal Images to either take professional photos or a broadcast quality video of you on two of your dives of the Advanced Adventurer Course.
