Part 1: Theory
The course begins with a brief introduction, during which you’ll complete the necessary paperwork.
The theory portion of your Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Specialty Course is completed through self-study using your personal manual, accessible via the App or browser.
Your instructor will then guide you through the features of your DPV, including battery charging requirements, and teach you how to properly care for your underwater scooter both before and after your dives.
Part 2: Pool Practice
The course begins with an introduction to the DPV in the pool. Here, you’ll practice simulated emergency scenarios and problem-solving techniques in calm, controlled conditions. This initial session ensures you’re fully prepared before transitioning to the open water environment for your dives.
Part 3: DPV Open Water Dives
After lunch, we’ll board one of our two custom-built dive boats and head out for your DPV Specialty dives.
Dive 1:
You’ll begin by learning how to safely enter the water with your DPV (Underwater Scooter) and practice surface handling techniques before descending. Your instructor will guide you through proper descents and ascents, ensuring you maintain safe speed control.
Dive 2:
Once underwater, you’ll practice maneuvering your DPV using various turning techniques and learn how to tow your buddy in case of a DPV malfunction. And, of course, you’ll have an unforgettable time exploring with your DPV!
After the dives, you’ll wrap up the course with post-dive equipment care for both your DPV and scuba gear. Finally, you’ll log your dives and celebrate becoming a certified Diver Propulsion Vehicle Specialist!
