PADI IDC Instructor Development Course at Crystal Dive Koh Tao

Located on the beach on Koh Tao, Crystal Dive offers monthly PADI Instructor Development Courses (PADI IDC’s). Conducted by Koh Tao’s most experienced team of Platinum level PADI Course Directors Crystal Dive provides the highest quality training necessary for you to easily pass the PADI Instructor Examination and be fully prepared for teaching in the real world.

To join our PADI Instructor Course there are some minimum prerequisites:

Minimum Age

To join our PADI Instructor course you have to be a minimum of 18 years old.

Minimum Dives

Have a minimum of 60 logged dives; documented experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation. Please note: you will need 100 logged dives to gain your teaching status.

Certifications

PADI Divemaster, or leadership level with another diver training organisation.

If not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course dive rescue assessment.

EFR Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months.

Medical Statement

You need to be medically fit for diving. You will find the Medical Statement for Scuba Diving here to download. For the IDC this is required to be signed by a physician and issued within the last 12 months.

To become a PADI Instructor, first you’ll need to complete the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). This 14 day course is designed to introduce various teaching techniques for teaching in a classroom, a confined water environment and also in Open Water. You will learn more advanced dive theory, as well as perfect the demonstration quality scuba skills you first mastered on your PADI Divemaster course.

PADI Instructor Examinations (IE)

Upon successful completion of all performance requirements of the PADI IDC you are now fully prepared to enter the 2 day PADI Instructor Examination (IE).

This is an external examination conducted by PADI staff from PADI HQ in Australia. Over two days you’ll be examined to make sure you are able to teach scuba diving safely, working to PADI instructor standards.

The two day PADI IE schedule is as follows..

• Systems, standards and procedures examination exam (90 mins)
• Dive Theory Exams (90mins)
